Consumer Fatigue Study (2026)
Archival inkjet print on pcw paper, 50 x 35 inches (127 x 88.9 cm)
Consumer Fatigue Study documents two garments that Shirt purchased separately and photographed together. Some months after buying a pair of plaid pants he loved by the brand Erl, he came across a button down at Saks department store that appeared to be the same cotton plaid. The ERL pants were too expensive. The button down was $50. Buying the shirt to compare the two fabrics directly, once receiving it and photographing the items together under light, the fabric of the shirt was found to be just slightly different in color. Shirt returned the button down. The photograph is what remains of the study.
